Chrome Plating Yourself with High-Quality Chrome Plating Solution from Dr. Galva!
With a chrome layer, you not only protect your components effectively against oxidation and corrosion but also give them an aesthetically pleasing finish. The plating solution is based on Chromium(III), an environmentally friendly and safer alternative compared to traditional Chromium(VI). Thanks to modern technology, this plating solution is particularly bright and powerful. Current densities of up to 50 A/dm² are possible, making it ideal for various applications.
Chrome is usually deposited in a Copper – Nickel – Chrome system. The nickel intermediate layer provides additional corrosion protection, as chrome layers often show microcracks. The chrome itself is usually applied in layers of 0.2 to 0.5 µm.
The chrome plating solution is suitable for both bath plating and pen plating (also known as tampon plating).
Important note:
Always use the necessary protective equipment when chrome plating, such as safety glasses, gloves, and protective clothing. Make sure to work in a well-ventilated area.
Your advantages at a glance:
- Suitable for bath plating and pen plating/tampon plating
- High adhesion strength and abrasion resistance
- Hardness of up to 1200 HV
- Wide current density range for maximum flexibility
-
Aesthetic appearance, very similar to the result of hexavalent chrome baths
- No heating of the plating solution required (temperature range 20-50°C)
- High reflection and gloss
- More tolerant of metal contamination, making the application easier
Application tips for optimal results:
The choice of the right anode is crucial for a perfect chrome layer. Aluminum, platinum-coated titanium, platinum, or iridium anodes are recommended. For pen plating, you can also use graphite, nickel, or stainless steel anodes. However, when using nickel or stainless steel anodes, make sure to rinse the tampon regularly to avoid contaminating the plating solution and the chrome layer.
Tip:
Aluminum anodes are particularly cost-effective and efficient, as they maintain the excellent color of the chrome. If you don't already have aluminum anodes, we recommend ordering them along with the plating solution.
