Easy nickel plating with Redox-Nickel from Dr. Galva!
Redox-Nickel is an currentless nickel electrolyte for chemical nickel plating of objects - an offer from Dr. Galva, the specialist for chemicals for the industrial sector.
Functional principle
The currentless nickel process is a chemical reduction process for metal deposition and, in contrast to electrolytic electroplating, does not require the supply of direct current. Therefore, this currentless plating method is also called electroless nickel or external currentless nickel. A protective nickel layer (nickel-phosphorus alloy) is deposited on the nickel-plating object from an aqueous solution containing nickel salt, a soluble anode is not necessary. In this way, metallic objects can be nickel-plated easily and quickly. A particular advantage is that the deposition is accurate to the contour - a huge advantage, especially for internal threads, for example.
Procedure and product benefits
The object to be nickel-plated is thoroughly cleaned and then placed in the heated nickel dipping bath for a few minutes. The nickel salt solution contained therein deposits an absolutely uniform nickel layer on the object to be plated, which is largely resistant to acid, alkali and corrosion and whose shine (only on shiny surfaces) clearly sets the currentless nickel process apart in quality from other currentless nickel baths. Also, an currentless nickel coating in the deposited state is up to three times harder than electroplated nickel layers or other layers, which significantly increases the abrasion resistance of metallic objects. By means of a special heat post-treatment, hardness levels of 1,000 HV and above can be achieved.
Fields of application
The method is suitable for objects or surfaces made of iron, steel and palladium. Copper, bronze and brass surfaces require a copper activator for pre-treatment, which is also offered in a set with the solution or can be purchased separately. This deposits a catalytically active layer on the copper materials and enables the Redox-Nickel to react. Zinc, zinc die-cast, gold, silver, platinum and other precious metals are unsuitable.
